Washi tape is decorative tape from Japan. If you’ve even looked at Pinterest recently, you’ve undoubtedly seen decorating ideas using this exciting, beautiful product. Because of the different patterns, colors, and widths, washi tape is versatile, and it’s easy to use. One of the many reasons it’s so popular is the fact that it peels right off when you’re done, without leaving behind residue.

It can be difficult to decorate a nursery if you’re renting, but washi tape gives you a cheap, easy way to stick to your lease or contract and still have a cute space for your baby. There are countless ways to use decorative washi tape, but here are some of the coolest:

Give Your Window Blinds a Makeover

Just buy cheap, but quality, aluminum blinds and go to town with your washi tape. Create your own personalized blinds with your preferred color scheme, and don’t forget to include fun patterns. This is a great way to ensure that no one has the same nursery window coverings as you do. If the blinds came with the rental, the washi tape will peel right off without a trace. If you bought the blinds, take them with you when you move, and then redecorate them with your latest vision. Think of how easy it would be to redecorate the nursery as your child grows and matures.

Hang Pictures without a Hammer

Instead of a traditional hammer and nail, use washi tape to make a statement and save the walls. Then you can swap out the pictures easily, and your landlord would never know pictures were on the walls. Obviously this would only work with pieces of paper instead of framed pictures. But, you could make a washi frame easily by outlining the picture. It’s lightweight, so you would never need to worry about the picture falling and injuring your baby.

Create a Statement Crib

Cribs can be expensive, especially beautiful cribs. Instead of buying an already-beautiful crib, create your own. Find a sturdy, strong, plain crib and cover it in washi tape. You can make it all one color, create a color scheme, or make it as eclectic and vibrant as possible. Whatever your style, you can make a colorful crib to match.

Create custom works of art in your baby’s nursery easily. Get creative, and find new ways to use washi tape. Need more ideas? Pinterest should be your next stop. Inspiration is all around you.
